What to do on a Sunday afternoon? Netflix & chill maybe? Green book is a must-see!
Dr. Don Shirley, a world-class African-American pianist, is about to embark on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962. In need of a driver and protection, Shirley recruits Tony Lip, a tough-talking Italian-American from the Bronx, New York.
Green Book is inspired by the true story of a tour of the Deep South by Jamaican–American classical and jazz pianist Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) and Italian-American bouncer Tony Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen) who served as Shirley’s driver and bodyguard. Despite their differences, the two gradually get a great bond with each other.
This is a must-see movie that won an award for best picture. More importantly, Green Book shared a message that resonates with us to this day, which is to have courage in the face of adversity. Even when everyone seems to be against your values, you will never go wrong by trusting your gut!
I want to thank Dr. Shirley for his essence. Just trying to capture his essence, pushed me to my +ends. Which is a reflection of the person he was and the life that he lived. And I thank him. – Mahershala Ali
